The Human Mycelium
Beneath every forest lies a hidden network: mycelium, the underground web of fungal threads that lets trees exchange nutrients, warnings and life itself. The Octopus Movement works the same way. Not a community with walls, but a Human Mycelium: an unbounded, nonlinear, infinite web of human connection.

Why not "community"?
The word community feels boxed. Linear. Full of rules and regulations. An entrance. An exit. A structure that quietly tells some people they do not belong.
The Octopus Movement belongs to everyone. That is why the word community does not work here. A mycelium has no entrance and no exit. It grows where connection is possible, feeds what needs feeding, and links what was never supposed to be separate.
What is the Human Mycelium?
Just as mycelium acts as a communication network for trees and plants, the Human Mycelium connects people from every background, encouraging them to exchange ideas, insights and experiences. It is a global web of individuals united by a shared belief in nonlinear thinking and the potential of collective intelligence.
Like mycelium, humans thrive when they share, collaborate and grow together. Every member is valued, and every idea has the potential to create impact. Through our platform, events and open WhatsApp circles, members stay in touch, meet each other, and let ideas travel the network.
The fruitbodies of the Human Mycelium
A mushroom is only the visible fruit of a much larger organism. The real mycelium lives underground, out of sight, doing the quiet work of connection. What you see above the surface are its fruitbodies: temporary, beautiful expressions of the network below.
The Human Mycelium works exactly the same way. Most of it is invisible: conversations, introductions, trust, ideas passed from mind to mind. And then, every so often, the network pushes something up into the light. Those visible expressions are our fruitbodies:
Books & writing
Octopus Leadership and In The Time of Corona are fruitbodies: ideas that grew in the network and surfaced as books.
Podcasts
The Weird Octopus, Dr. Octopus and the Human Mycelium podcast carry conversations from the underground web into the open air.
The Octopus Think Tank Institute
The most amazing minds in the world, connected through the mycelium, thinking together on problems nobody can solve alone.
I Build mastermind
A weekly gathering where members build in public, with the Octopus Logs and calls that keep the network nourished.
Art & photography
Daily artworks shared from Instagram, photo series made in the streets: beauty surfacing from the web of connections.
Movements within the movement
TellTOM.Ink, the Think Tank for Kids, PickMyNeurodiverseBrain and the ambassadors: initiatives that grow wherever the mycelium reaches.
None of these fruitbodies were planned top-down. They appeared because the conditions were right: the right people, the right trust, the right moment. That is the power of a mycelium over a machine.
Listen: the Human Mycelium podcast
A podcast about this invisible network and the people inside it: conversations with the minds that make the mycelium move. Fruitbodies, ideas and the space between thoughts, in audio.
